Computer-Based Energy Conservation Campaign Plan

This social marketing campaign plan was designed to convince staff and faculty at Ithaca College to conserve energy by turning their computers off at the end of the workday and by enabling the energy saving sleep-mode on their monitors.

Primary research was conducted to analyze the beliefs and knowledge level of the target audience related to conserving energy. These surveys and interviews revealed several belief and knowledge barriers that could be addressed through simple messaging related to the positive financial and environmental impacts of turning off their computers.

The campaign plan recommended a variety of marketing techniques, peer volunteer strategies, incentives, and prompts to encourage the target audience to reduce energy use in order to protect the environment and save a tremendous amount of money on electricity costs.
